Some back injuries can lead to paralysis (in which case see "paralysis" for details). Minor injuries (£1,000 - £10,900) include sprains and soft tissue injuries where a full recovery is made without surgery. Moderate injuries (£10,900 - £34,000) are generally those that cause pain and loss of function without prospect of recovery within five years. Severe injuries (£34,000 - £141,000) are life-changing and ongoing symptoms such as loss of mobility, chronic pain, issues with bladder or bowel functions and sexual difficulties as well as a psychological impact.
