Digital assets – have you made plans for these?
Wills are an estate planning tool to ensure intended beneficiaries received what you want them to have when you have passed away.
Assets such as a house, bank accounts, cars and personal belongings are commonly included within a Will, but what about your digital assets? Do you have any ‘digital media’ (pictures or videos) you would want someone specifically to have or digital assets with a monetary value, for instance cryptocurrencies or funds kept in online payment systems? Do you need to take steps to ensure your executors are able to access your digital assets?
If you do not specify who receives these type of assets in your Will, they may potentially pass
into the residue of your estate and not to specific intended beneficiaries.
We would be pleased to speak with you about your estate planning requirements and protection arrangements for any digital assets.
